I CHALLENGE
HOW DO WE FALL IN LOVE?

THE FAULT IN OUR LOVE
WEBSITE / UI / UX / TYPOGRAPHY
OBJECTIVE
This is a typography project from the Type Experiments class. In this class, we created a website to tell a story by using type at a higher concept level. In order to tell a compelling story, we need to incorporate our personal interpretation and express it through unique typography. We need to push the boundaries between legibility and abstraction to achieve the ideal expressiveness. I chose love as the most mysterious topic to explore. What’s right and what’s wrong in the way we love?
SOLUTION
After research, I found Alain de Botton and his theories on love and romanticism. Based on his conclusions, I made the website “The Fault in Our Love”, and there, I created three sections to answer three questions: What’s wrong with the way we love? What don’t we know? What we should know? I contrasted two different styles of love by contrasting two fonts. For “classic personality”, I used Futura to indicate “old but good,” and for “romantic personality” I used Anisette to convey the often-changing and unpredictable nature of romance.
